Who?
Franck Jousselin is a French-born musician who produces his music under the moniker Kick Bong. Franck started his musical life as a drummer and traversed over half a dozen bands all the while releasing psybient tracks. Franck employs live drums and a laptop during his passionate and energetic performances. Nine years and two albums later Franck released Kind of Imagination, his most polished work to date.
Kind of Imagination
The album starts off very strong with two of the work’s most notable tracks: Strange Feelings and the title track Kind of Imagination. From there it varies widely, encompassing some beautiful vocal work evidenced in the tracks: My Little Girl and Je Suis La, which is comparable to the work of Enigma or Delerium. He also appears to be experimenting with traditional dance music in the 4/4 beats of No More Love, Le Bonheur and Sensation. Regardless of experimenting in new directions the album stays true to the psychedelically charged and drum-driven sound that Franck’s developed throughout his career.
Franck’s new turn toward vocals seems to fit very well into the established psybient framework that he’s created and it can only be expected that it will continue to be a driving force in his future productions.
